Ok boys and girls as some of you may know I will be doing a LS (Aluminum 5.3) Swap into the Datassun pretty soon .. This means my car will be down for lets say 1 month .. A rental car would cost too much so I figure I'll buy one , drive it for a month hoon the Fuck out of it , then sell it and get my money back .
I want to spend $1,000 dollars or damn close to that , the car only has to be reliable for a month or two tops, and I'm open to all ideas .. 123 Go !
Oh it would be nice if they car you find is in Texas either Houston , San Antonio , Austin (Preferably) or Dallas Fort Worth .

I found a 2 door Volvo something or other that was RWD, Standard, and turbo'ed for a 1000 bucks but its sold now

Absolutely. Dd'd a nonturbo NG in grad school, only cost me $500 buy-in and $500 dollars in repairs for two years of 120 mile per day commuting. Awesome.

when they are bad they are really bad. Get one halfway maintained and they are good to go. Just dont expect the power windows to last. Or it not to leak oil out of the turbo (or anywhere)

In Texas? There's only one correct option then...old work/farm truck. They're awesomely fun in a different in a different kind of way. Plus it helps to have something to haul all your parts around with. Plus it always makes a good next project.

Kinda late to the discussions, but how about a motorcycle? You could find a Ninja 250 for cheap and they hold their value like none other so definitely easy to sell when you're done with the swap!
